Welcome!

I’m Becca, the founder behind Muninn Candle Co. First, let me share how excited I am to have you here on our little corner of the internet and looking to learn a bit more about what inspired our company.

For as long as I can remember, I have loved shifting my home with the seasons and scent has always played a huge role in that experience. For me, that started with the famous 3-wick candles from the large retail chain that sold bath and body products… I’ll let you guess the company… but as much as I loved the packaging and the scents, the experience always left me with a headache. From there, I tried it all over the years - reed diffusers, essential oil diffusers, wall plug-ins - and nothing ever quite matched the experience of lighting a seasonal candle. Through research, plus some trial and error, I finally found the wax (soy) and fragrances (phthalate-free) that gave me the experience I wanted and a candle I felt good about using in my own home. I started small, making some candles for myself, then gave some away as gifts to close friends and family and had enough people asking for more that I’m here to share what I have created with you!

As I thought about naming this company, I wanted to give a nod to the things that inspire the candles, both Minnesota seasons and the memories associated with those seasons. With Minnesota being rich in Swedish and Norwegian history, I first looked to the Norse language which is a medieval Swedish and Norwegian language, think vikings (historic, not the football team). Muninn in Norse is the word for “memory” and is often symbolized as a raven that consulted the king and served as the perfect combination of my two inspirations. So throughout our packaging and website you can spot Muninn being represented in bird-form.
